Amazon Kindle Fire HDX specs and features

Amazon has announced their recent version of Kindle Fire Android-powered tablet called Kindle Fire HDX. Its available in 7 and 8.9 inch versions. The resolutions of the screen are 1920 x 1200 with a pixel density of 323 pixels per inch and 2560 x 1600 with a pixel density of 339 PPI respectively.

Both the versions of Kindle Fire HDX share the same chipset, Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor along with Andreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM with 16/32/64 GB of internal storage, 1 MP front camera with Dolby stereo speakers, accelerometer, gyro, Wi-Fi 802.11, 4G and GPS for Wi-Fi & Cellular models.

The 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX has a price tag of $229, while the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 will have a starting price of $379. The tablets are running the latest version of Kindle Fire OS, Kindle Fire OS 3.0 Mojito, which is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and offers new features like X-Ray for music, improved Amazon Prime videos and another feature called Mayday. Other improvements you will find are enhanced multitasking, wireless streaming and Facebook and Twitter integration.

With launch of these new tablets, Amazon has upped the budget tablet war yet again. It said older models will receive a price cut. What do you think of $229 for 7-inch HD tablet? Will Amazon be able to attract new customers to its latest offering as it had previously? We shall soon find out.
