The Asus Padfone 2 is the second iteration of the uniquely designed Asus Padfone, and was released in December 2012. While it shares the same concept and design as the original Padfone – that of a touch based Android smartphone which transforms into a full fledged 10 inch tablet when connected to a hybrid docking station. However, that’s about all that it has in common with the original. The Padfone 2 packs in some serious specs and power under the hood, to make it every bit worth the $850 – $900 that it is priced at.

In the specs department, the Padfone 2 screams high-end from all aspects, packing in a 4.7 inch Super IPS+ 720p display with a pixel density of 312PPi, a 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor – the same one found in the LG Optimus G, Nexus 4 and the Xperia Z, 2GB of RAM to keep things speedy, a 13MP camera, storage options of 16/32/64 GB, and runs Android 4.0 ICS out of the box. It has also been updated recently to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and going by Asus’ track record of updating its high-end devices, will also get the 4.2 update soon enough.

If you couldn’t resist the urge to root this awesome device, and have gone ahead and used our step by step guide to Root the Padfone 2, you should now have full root access.
