Galaxy S4 Active is the waterproof variant of the Galaxy S4 that was released recently. The smartphone is featuring Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and Jelly Bean 4.3 should be out there soon. But few users who don’t have the privilege of having official/stock Android JB 4.2.2 firmware can use this tutorial to get it. It is also called the XXUAMF7.

This guide will help you restore the warranty of your Galaxy S4 Active and also restore the default JB 4.2.2 OS and it does not require rooting S4 Active as you will be flashing with the official Android XXUAMF5 and not a custom ROM. And hence if your device is already rooted and has a custom recovery image installation, your root access could be revoked and the bootloader relocked. Hence, understand clearly the above things and then proceed with the installation.

But before we begin the process, there are a few pre-requisites that you need to look into for completing the installation guide.

  • Backup all the data as the operation involved might result in loss of data and might need to recover all the data like the contacts and all. So, take a detailed backup of all your data. You can also make a NANDROID backup using either CWM or TWRP.
  • Then enable the USB debugging option on your phone by going to “Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging”.
  • Also make sure you have enough battery charge for the process to complete without any interruptions. Maintain about 60-70% of your battery.
  • This guide doesn’t necessarily need your device to be rooted and hence works on both rooted and unrooted devices. You can root the device if you wish to once installation is done.
  • Keep in mind that this guide is for advanced Android users for particularly Samsung S4 Active and we should not be blamed for any loss of data or in case you brick your device while trying to update it.
