How to root Sony Xperia Z

Sony has shown the whole mobile community how serious it is with the launch of Xperia Z early this year. There is absolutely no doubt that Xperia Z is one of the best smartphones available out there. With excellent camera, intuitive design and water and dust resistant features, it simply raises the bar for smartphones. Just go out and get one for yourself.

XperiaZ_lifestyleOnce you have this wonderful device in your hands, its time to get it rooted to get the most out of the device. The following guide will help you get rooted in few simple steps. But a word of caution that follow the steps carefully in the guide. Though all the steps are carefully verified, we still wont be responsible for anything that you end up doing with your device. Having said that, lets get on with the stuff.

Steps to root Sony Xperia Z:

1. Unlock you bootloader by heading over here.

2. Make sure you have the Sony USB drivers for your device installed on your PC. You can get them from here .

2. Download Fastboot from here and extract them to C: Drive of your pc.

3. Download Modified CF-Auto-Root kernel and Insecure Stock Kernel. Now transfer both the files to the Fastboot folder.

4. Now on your phone, go to Settings > Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging.

5. Reboot your phone to Fastboot mode by by turning off your phone first, then press theVolume Up key and connect the USB cable. When the Blue LED lights up, you should be in Fastboot Mode.

6. Open the Fastboot folder on your C: and while holding the Shift key down, Right-clickanywhere in the folder and Click Open Command Window Here from the right-click menu.

7. Now type in fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_CF-Auto-Root-ported_FW-350.img in the command prompt and hit enter.

8. Once the flash is completed, type in fastboot reboot and press Enter.

9. Once your device has booted back up, unplug the USB cable and perform a Hard Power Off by holding the Power + Volume Up buttons pressed for about 15 seconds while the phone is ON, till your device vibrates three times.

10. Now reconnect the device in fastboot mode and type in fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_insecure_FW-350.img in command prompt and hit enter.

11. Once done, reboot your device with the command fastboot reboot.

12. After your device has booted up, set up your Google account, and then download BusyBoxf rom the Play Store and run the installer on your device to install BusyBox on your device.

13. Now your device is fully rooted.
