How to update Galaxy S2 Plus I9105P with official XXUBMI1 JB 4.2.2 Firmware

Samsung has released a latest version of Android Jellybean 4.2.2 OS called XXUBMI1. This upgrade just brings few bug fixes and improves stability. So, without expecting far too many new features if you want better stability and latest OS, then use this guide to manually update your Galaxy S2 Plus to latest JB 4.2.2 firmware. Before applying manual update, check if OTA update is available to you and go ahead and update if available. Else follow this guide.

But before we begin the process, there are a few pre-requisites that you need to look into for completing the installation guide.

  • Backup all the data as the operation involved might result in loss of data and might need to recover all the data like the contacts and all. So, take a detailed backup of all your data. You can also make a NANDROID backup using either CWM or TWRP.
  • Then enable the USB debugging option on your phone by going to “Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging”.
  • Also make sure you have enough battery charge for the process to complete without any interruptions. Maintain about 60-70% of your battery.

How to update Galaxy S2 Plus I9105P with official XXUBMI1 JB 4.2.2 Firmware

  1. Download latest version of Odin3 v3.07 from here. Once the download is done, save the extracted contents on your pc.
  2. Now, power off your smartphone completely and boot it into Download Mode by pressing and holding at the same time the Power, Volume Down and Home buttons.
  3. Now download the required update file from HERE. Extract it to your pc once downloaded.Now open Odin exe on your PC. Also, connect your device to your pc via USB cable.
  4. Once Odin recognizes your phone, you’ll see the ‘Added!!’ alert confirmation. Else, if the device isn’t recognized, then you will be forced to re-install the Samsung USB Drivers.
  5. Then go to Odin window and click the PDA button. You then load the file downloaded in your pc in step 3 into Odin.
  6. Leave the default settings as it is and press the START button for the updating process to begin. Just wait for the update to be completed and you receive confirmation when Odin shows the ‘PASS’ message.
  7. The phone then restarts and you can now unplug it from your pc. Just wait for the phone to boot into normal mode before doing anything.

Congratulations!! Now you have successfully updated your Galaxy S2 Plus I9105P with official XXUBMI1 JB 4.2.2 Firmware.
