For those who don’t know, XBMC is a very popular underground media center that has a lot of features and a lot of fans. It started out many years ago as a media center alternative for those who hacked their old school Xbox consoles. Back then, it was called Xbox Media Center, which was eventually shortened to XBMC. Since then it has gone open source and is available on a plethora of Linux distros, various versions of Microsoft Windows, and MacOS. Now, there’s a version of XBMC application for Android users who’d like their favorite media center back.

There are a lot, and we mean a lot, of features with the release of XBMC application for Android. For one thing, this isn’t some cheap, thin client. This is the real deal, the full version. That means two things. The first is that you’re going to get all the functionality of XBMC without any compromise. The second is that the application is gigantic. Users have reported it being in the dozens of MB, which is quite large for an Android application. Even so, it’s easy to sacrifice storage space for the sake of features. Some of the features of XBMC include:

¤ XBMC can be launched as an application on your set-top-box, tablet, phone, or wherever else Android may be found.

¤ The feature-set on Android is the same that you have come to expect from XBMC, no different from its cousin on the desktop.

¤ Running your favorite media-center software on small, cheap, embedded hardware is about to become a hassle-free reality.

¤ And as Android-based set-top-boxes are becoming more and more ubiquitous, it couldn’t be a better time.

¤ In fact, primary development was done on a Pivos XIOS DS set-top-box. And that is no coincidence, you will notice that Pivos is now listed as an official sponsor (more on that later).

¤ It is in under development of XBMC…. With more features
I will get the updates here when the XBMC worked on it as i Open source i have presented here

¤ XBMC is stable and works great there, as well as on various tablets and phones. Though with Android, as many of you probably know, that is only the beginning of the story.

So there’s a lot of hype for XBMC and for good reason, it’s an astounding application that has kept users in their good graces across several different pieces of technology. It appears as though Android will be yet another one. For more info, check out the XBMC launch thread.
